Do try to keep up as we change focus back to our recent travels. Remember how we created a touching photo-essay on the canines of Sicily? Well, not to neglect my roots, I also managed a few shots of interesting people out in the streets of that fine city.

We’ve discussed street photography to a certain extent previously, so you don’t need any further verbiage on that score. I’d say, if pressed to be pompous, that these are candid street portraits, and I hope they give some idea of the colour and diversity of the city’s inhabitants. Take a gander.

I suppose the only one that can remotely be said to show a ‘decisive moment’ is the last (above). I thought the chef studying the outdoor menu while smoking a ciggie hadn’t seen me. It was only later, on examining the pics, that I realised he was giving me the finger. Fair play mate: you’re free to respond to a camera being pointed at you in any way you like — but I’m really quite pleased to end up with an interesting image!

(By the way, given the amount of effort that goes into making ‘sharp’ images and rejecting the many that are not ‘sharp’, it is a bit annoying that something in the way this platform renders these pics slightly ‘unsharp’. I’m playing around with it to see if I can improve matters, just so you know.)
