Today let’s look at something other than raptors or Kingfishers. I’ve always been a bit snobbish about photographing Galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla)— they’re not as sexy as raptors— but this one was having such a good time scoffing grass seeds, I had to have a go at creating a sequence. Then I found out that they’re not only intelligent, but can live up to 40 years! Rather more interesting than initial impressions might suggest!

There ya go — smart, sociable, charismatic — not at all like your Auntie Mabel’s parrot after all!
